The Art of Art Marketing with Alex Roediger, Free Zoom Event, Sep 23rd, 8:00 PM EST

Hello Artists!

I will be hosting a discussion about online art marketing techniques over Zoom this Thursday, September 23rd at 8:00 PM EST. I’ll share my personal journey of selling art online, including my strategies and tactics for audience engagement, art sales and then open up the meeting to art marketing questions and discussion. The event is free, RSVP required. I hope you’re able to join, listen and share your own thoughts, questions and suggestions.

I’ll be discussing my experience with:

  • Selling artwork using social media, virtual events, Etsy and Squarespace

  • Finding a connection with an audience

  • Maintaining relationships with collectors

  • Pricing and discounts

  • The website, blog, email ecosystem

About Me:

I have been creative in many different ways in my life - I’ve been a musician, cartoonist and an oil painter to name a few. Five years ago I decided that I wanted to make a connection to people with my art, make a profit selling my paintings and do it all with the demands of already having a full time job. I was able to reach this goal by ignoring the usual art world advice and instead used techniques that bypass galleries and allow me to sell directly to collectors. Through my process, I have been able to sell over 130 paintings in the last five years while keeping my overhead low and minimizing the time I spend on marketing. Most importantly, I’ve had fun painting, making new friends and being able to share my art with others in a meaningful way.

My full time job is at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York where I work with visitor experience data and where I am an instructor for the online MoMA/Coursera course: In the Studio: Postwar Abstract Painting.
