I lived in Middleburgh, a small town in the Schoharie valley, which is just out of the painting and to the right. At the center of the work is Vroman’s Nose, a thousand foot high hill and cliff surrounded by farmland. From the top you can get amazing views of the town, farmland and the surrounding mountains.
